I love being an LDS grandparent….
Recently, I announced to the world, that my eighth grandchild is on their journey here to earth… literally, as we speak.
Wow, that is really quite amazing when you think about it in those terms, isn’t it? The opportunity for another one of Heavenly Father’s spirit children, to come to earth, gain a body and learn by and through their own experiences - to choose the right, or the good.
What an incredible perspective an LDS grandparent has, on the true purpose of life. It certainly causes each one of us to see things in ways that are quite unique…
One of the great joys of being an LDS grandparent, is the ability that we have now, based in our earlier experiences of parenting, (once upon a time ago) to be now, that of an observer, and then mentor - to our grandchildren.
It is with this proper eternal perspective - that we are able to see the great benefits of allowing children to develop the skill of agency, more freely. If we as an LDS grandparent, are able to have a gentle and yet constant influence upon our grandchildren, we will be the blessing that this cherished and eternal relationship is meant to become.
Truly - being an LDS grandparent is the closest anyone of us will ever come, at least here and now - to enjoying the kind of perspective and relationship - that our wise Heavenly Father has with each one of His own children.
How grateful we are, to be an LDS grandparent, and for a beautiful plan such as this - to raise up our Eternal Families.

Oh my gosh she is precious! And I still think she looks like my baby girl. Also, we have that book “My First Book of Mormon Stories” and my kids love to read it during sacrament. I give it two thumbs up

Thank you. Skylee is so precious to us, in so many ways. I’m excited for your mother, that she has one as as adorable as mine. Isn’t Heavenly Father kind? Grandparents just love to eat our grandchildren up — they are “all” so scrumptious to us:-)
The Book of Mormon Stories for children, is a favorite of my grandchildren, when they come over. Personally, I think it is a must for all LDS Grandparents to either own or give as a gift.
Thank you for the review of two thumbs up:-)
I think that reading LDS books for children, is a great way to influence their faith - for good.

Although becoming a grandparent is something I am waiting patiently for, I have the most wonderful example of grandparents in my parents. They have been an influence for good not only in the lives of my own children but in the lives of many others who enter into my home.
I truly believe that in todays world with the outside influences pounding down on us in every direction, it does “take a village” to raise our children in righteousness.
I am thankful for the influence that my own parents have had on the world and the example of excellent grandparenting skills in a wonderful LDS way.

Hi Molly:-)
You make such an important point…
Today, more than ever before, the positive influence of a righteous LDS grandparent is almost imperative!
When my own children were in there teen years, I believed firmly that they were “the” generation with an amazing work to do here upon the earth. I still do…
What has become crystal clear to me now, is that WE as LDS GrandParents are the valiant army of Parents, who are now the Grand-Parents of the most righteous generation to ever come to this earth.
What that means, is that WE have some of the most important work of our lives - in Grandparenting these incredible young people, that we call our grandchildren.
They most certainly are Grand!

Great blog idea! The site reminds me of my Great Aunt who decided to learn about computers and emailing at the age of 90+. Grandparents can do anything…or at least influence others to do so.
Thanks for your thoughts.
