To be an LDS Grandparent - is to be both a mentor and a teacher of eternal principles to our grandchildren. As an LDS grandparent, we have the ability to have some of the greatest influence on a grandchild, and perhaps even more so, than even their own parents at times.
Learning to choose well, is the entire reason for coming to this earth and gaining a body. It is this very skill, that will return us back into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father once again.
Could it really be this straight-forward - the very reason for this life’s experiences? As an LDS grandparent, one of our greatest challenges, is to find ways to connect regularly with our grandchildren, regardless of location, distance - or even finances. In this way - we can be a constant presence in their lives.
I remember, and not to many years back - feeling and even being compelled to almost control the decisions that my own children could make, or so I thought? Oh brother, was I ever wrong about that, and luckily - Heavenly Father sent me exactly the right Spirits, to teach me a thing or two about eternal parenting. I think that some of you other LDS Grandparents, most likely know exactly what I am talking about…
Like many of you, I have learned a lot about LDS parenting, through raising my own family. I am a much different parent now, than I was when my own children were young. In fact, you could even refer to me - as a Grand-Parent. An LDS GrandParent, is one who comes to this specific place in life, with much experience. Therefore, much to teach our posterity…
As an LDS grandparent, we then can be the best mentor our grandchildren have available to them… as we strive to maintain a constant presence in their lives . The joy of the LDS GrandParent, is that we have the ability to gently guide and teach our grandchildren, those eternal principles that will mark their individual return to Christ…

LdsNana, you have a remarkable way of bringing out the best feelings we all have inside: The joys of grandparenting and desire to have a righteous posterity. The eternal perspective of family.
I love being a grandparent. I enjoy looking for opportunities to share the gospel with my eight grandchildren. It’s also wonderful to see them growing up with loving parents who teach them to choose the right.

Shayne -
Such kind words.
I am very passionate about my grandchildren as well, and being an LDS GrandParent, in particular - has so much meaning for each of us.
We are so blessed to have a gospel perspective, from which we Grand-Parent our grandchildren. Like you, I love to share the gospel with each grandchild, in very specific ways.
As you mentioned also, there is no greater joy, than to see our own children - walking uprightly before the Lord - as parents themselves.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.

In a way I am a grand-parent, or so I hope I am. My toddler would say yes if I asked her. But I do appreciate the prespective you’ve given. And, I love the pictures of that adorable little girl you have on this sight! Great job on this website.

Hi Brittney -
What a wonderful understanding of what a parent is, that you already have an understanding of, as a young mother. I too believe, that this comes from our wonderful LDS perspective of eternity and eternal families.
If each one of us, could truly see - just who We really are, and our Eternal role as Parent - how different we will parent from the time our children are young.
You are ahead of the game IMHO
